a website from which emanates a quiet electronic thrumming noise, pulsing nearly metronomically, then stumbling, coming a bit too early or late, every few revolutions. from between some of the riveted steel seams of the website, a dark golden oily substance begins to leak, flowing easily down the sides and pooling on the floor.
as you watch, the thrumming takes on a lower timbre, as if heavy stones are being set on the back of whatever interior device carries the sound. the pulsing noise slows some, and you notice that the strange fluid flows out in tides pushed in time with the noise — thrum-ooze, thrum-ooze, thrum-ooze.
the thrumming drops suddenly in pitch, octaves and formants splitting and diving to reveal the individual notes of the insistent electronic chord. with its composition now laid-bare you can hear there is a metalness to some of the notes, and a rasping to others — like great granite slabs dragged along granite slabs.
the air smells of ozone. you watch the oily seepage as it darkens in color and thickens in viscosity, widening the gaps between panels, coming in slower pulses but greater quantities. rivets drop from the split panels into the growing pools. the sludge, choked with sediment and separating slightly, creeps along the floor towards your feet.
